The FIM is pleased to announce additional FIM homologated helmets under the FRHPhe-02, including the new ARAI and JUST1 off-road models, plus the BELL circuit racing model.
The FIM applauds ARAI, JUST1 and BELL as they introduce additional FIM homologated helmets. These helmet models come with a standard ECE 22-06 certification, plus they have successfully passed all tests of theFIM Helmet Standard FRHPhe-02 that will be mandatory in 2026 FIM championships.
Currently we have several manufacturers involved with our laboratory for testing, seventeen for the FRHPhe-02 off-road helmet models and nineteen for the circuit racing helmet models.
For the Off-road models, the ARAI MX-V FIM RACING#2 helmet model is available in all sizes from XS to XL, and the JUST1 J18 is available in M size. The BELL PRO STAR ECE helmet model in M size, has been homologated for circuit racing use.
The homologation of these helmet models is confirmed by the mandatory presence of the FIM homologation label sewn on the chin strap.
From the outset the aim of the FRHPhe-02 was to improve riders’ head protection in other disciplines. Phase 02 was established, with the collaboration of the helmet manufacturers back in 2022, in order to define a new standard that goes above and beyond the existing ones on the market (e.g., UN ECE 22.06, Snell M2020, JIS T8133), and above the FRHPhe-01.
Relative to the standards previously referred to, the FRHPhe-02 standards have undergone an enhanced and more complete evaluation of their performance, in addition to being previously certified as compliant with an international standard. This includes new threshold requirements, new impacts and tests, such as new impact tests against oblique and hemispherical anvils (to measure rotational solicitations generated in impacts), a quick-removal cheek pad test, and the introduction of a Skull Fracture Criterion (SFC).
